Tempur-Pedic Memory Foam Mattress Topper

A Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress topper is second to one when compared to other brands. It can serve a variety of purposes, such as to enhance the softness of your current mattress, as a guest bed, or used even on a camping trip. When buying a Tempur-Pedic mattress topper, there are a few key points to keep in mind.

Memory foam density is one of the most important keys to consider. The average density is around 4 pounds or so for most brands. The lower to middle densities are less expensive, but don’t necessarily provide as much overall support as a higher density topper. Typically, less density also means that it won’t be as long lasting. The density of Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress toppers is over 5 pounds. Though, it should be noted that some people like less dense toppers because they aren’t quite as thick.

Despite this, the consensus among orthopedic experts is that the ideal density is around 5 pounds. In addition to Tempur-Pedic, other top name brands such as Serta and Sealy have similar densities. What separates Tempur-Pedic from these other brands is that no one else can copy their memory foam since they are the sole owners of it. This differs from other brands that have a patent instead. And once the patent expires, then their secrets can be replicated while Tempur-Pedic will never have to worry about this.

With Tempur-Pedic memory foam, it will perfectly adapt to a person’s body and therefore offer maximum support. The reason is because the air bubbles of the mattress are very consistent in size. So when the mattress is exposed to heat and pressure, air will be transferred from cell to cell, whereas the cells of traditional foams just generally compress under pressure.

The firmness of memory foam is determined by the ILD rating. The higher the rating, the more firm it is. Most will say that the ideal range for memory foam is in the 12-14 range, Tempur-Pedic memory foam toppers received a rating of 14.

Whether you buy a topper from Tempur-Pedic or some other brand, check your current mattress to be sure that it’s in good enough condition to accommodate a topper. If it’s sagging and has deep craters, then you won’t receive many benefits. As long as it’s firm and flat, then you should be fine.

There are many memory foam mattresses out there, which is why you see some of them for under $100. Keep in mind that some sellers will claim that they sell Tempur-Pedic, but they are not actually what they say they are. So if you see one that is way below the typical price of a true Tempur-Pedic topper, then it’s probably a cheap version.
